Creating Nurseries

Coming Soon...
I am so lucky that my mom is so talented!  This summer, we moved our 2 year old son into his "big boy bed" to make way for our second son, who was born in October.  Pretty soon I'll be posting pictures of a Tweet by the Sea toddler room, as well as our baby's nursery, which my mom did a beautiful job with.  Here are a few sneak preview pictures...

When I found out that I was pregnant with my first child, I was overjoyed and terrified--probably like most new moms!  I was nervous about the health of my child, childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, everything!  But I was thrilled to bring a new life into this world, to love him unconditionally, and to teach him to love God and others.  On a more superficial note, I was also excited to re-do the room in our house labeled "the office", that actually looked more like a freshman guy's college dorm room (I had let my husband decorate it and it was awful).  You know the room in your house--the "catchall" room.  Incidentally, that room is now our guest room, but that's for another post.  Or maybe a reason to have another baby, I don't know...
Anyway, the room rapidly transformed from the most hated room in the house to the most beloved.  Not only did it become more aesthetically pleasing, it also represented hope and excitement--the anticipation of my sweet boy.  And now, with him here in the world, his nursery represents peace and tranquility, chaos and noise, dirty diapers and sweet bedtime stories all at one time.  I love my son's room, and I hope that Tweet by the Sea Designs can help you create the room you dream of for your little one.

Here's how we did it:
Step 1: Clear out the room

Step 2: Choose a Theme

Step 3: Choose fabrics/paint colors
Step 4: Pick out your furniture

Step 5: Purchase your bedding
(I've already told my story about bedding, but basically, I was high-maintenance and wanted mine custom!  Thanks, Mom!)

Step 5: Accessorize (every girl's favorite part!)

These hand-sewn canvases will soon be available in our Etsy shop!
My sister, who has 8-month old twins, was also high-maintenance about her custom nursery.  It had to be birds (not owls), it had to be vibrant, and it had to be dual-gender since she was having a boy and a girl.  No problem for my mom, who helped her design the most beautiful nursery.  Here are pics of her room's transformation.

Mallory couldn't paint because she was on bed rest, so my brother-in-law and mom took over.
